| Walter "Wolfman" Washington pratique un blues rock académique et sans surprise. "On the prowl" est un best of de ses trois albums pour le label Bullseye. "You got me worried", "Can i change my mind", "It was fun while it lasted", "I'm tiptoeing through" et "Without you" proviennent de "Wolf tracks" (1985), "Out of the dark", "On the prowl", "Nobody's fault but mine" et "You can stay but the noise must go" de "Out of the dark" (1987) et "Don't say goodbye", "It doesn't really matter" et "Hello stranger" de "Wolf at the door" (1990). Tout au plus remarque-t-on l'orgue Hammond B3 de Kermit Young et les saxos (alto et ténor) de Bill Samuel.
